BLESSINGS AND CURSES
On Bellicose, it is possible to pray to any one of the listed deities in hopes of being blessed by them. However, it's also possible you'll be cursed for your efforts, so be careful! Some deities are more likely to curse than others, while others are kinder in nature. Each deity offers a different blessing/curse and they each offer two, their regular blessing or a higher chance of a god quest from them. If you pray, you must specify which blessing you'd like to pray for.
How to Pray
While creating your character, there will be a section of the application that says "Pray To:", simply put the deity you wish to pray in the following box. You may only pray to one deity at a time and you may only have one cursing and blessing per character. If you wish to pray after creation, you must send your character to the desired temple in the Pantheon of the Gods. If your attempts to reach out were successful, blessing or curse, your character will be approached by said deity. Again, we implore you to choose wisely, as some, such as Incarnate, may not interact kindly with your character.
Many of the deities go by titles rather than names, making it difficult for anyone to pray to them. That is why the trek to their temples is required. They will be alerted to anyone entering their domain, and if the plea is worthy enough of attention, they will acknowledge it. One must never defile a Deity's temple or speak blasphemously, lest they wish for death.
Remember to specify who you're praying to and what you wish to be blessed with. If you do not specify, we will choose at random, should the Deity respond.
Major Deities
Nocturna: She is the Harbinger of Victory and the Bringer of Night. Queen of the Pantheon and leader of the deities. She does not often visit the mortal realm unless it is important. Domain: Victory, Night
Blessing: +1 Point for fights or a higher chance for her God Quests
Curse: -1 Point for fights
Jaecar: He is The Grand Hunter and The Great Beast/All-Consuming One, as well as the Spirit of the Wild. He interacts most often with the mortals.
Domain: Hunting, the Wild, Animals/Beasts (minor domain over Family)
Blessing: Higher chance for friendly animal encounters/taming encounters or a higher chance for his God Quests
Curse: Higher chance for unavoidable hostile animal events/animal attacks in threads
Marika: She is the Many-Headed Serpent and the Mistress of Power. Most mortals believe her to be the Mother of All Monsters, for Mother was stricken from history. Will most assuredly curse if she does not find the pray/offering/sacrifice to be to her standards.
Domain: Magic, Destruction
Blessing: More likely to have a mage child or a higher chance for her God Quests
Curse: There's a chance your weapons or armor may break during quests
Incarnate: 'He' is known as the Faceless One and the Father of Fear. Incarnate likes to mimic mortals to toy with them and is one who is just as likely to curse as bless.
Domain: Fear, Madness, Darkness
Blessing: Higher chance for a God quest from the Twelve Horrors or a higher chance for God Quests from himself
Curse: Higher chance for the Black Harrier and the Jackal Buzzard to visit, can't opt out of their events
Tythos: They are The One Who Dwells Beneath and The Ocean's Master. Rarely do they travel up from the sea. They are not overly fond of mortals. Take care when in their temple.
Domain: The Ocean, Storms
Blessing: Sea related creatures (nymphs, sirens, and monsters included) are more likely to aid you along your quests or a higher chance for their God Quests
Curse: There's a random chance your character will get struck by lightening in their threads.
Merak: Merak is the patron deity of love, family and childbirth. He is the only nonmajor deity on this list, but his blessings and curses still work the same.
Blessing: Higher chance for multiples during childbirth or a higher chance for his God Quests
Curse: Sterility, more likely stillbirths
The Keeper
There is one deity who is always willing to bless a character, but only by chance. Upon character creation, regardless of if you pray to another deity or don't pray at all, we will roll for the chance of The Keeper's Blessing. It's rare and when blessed, the Keeper grants the character with an extra sensory ability. Some can see the nature of others souls, others can see into the celestial realm, and some can feel when any mystical being is nearby, even if they're disguised. There are even more sensory abilities The Keeper bestows onto mortals. The chance is randomized, just as the awarded ability is. You cannot pray to The Keeper. They're fickle and like to surprise characters.
